His work is built around singing and dancing the complex vocal and movement combinations associated with Michael Jackson, with a focus on making those elements feel natural rather than simply copied. He traces the start of his professional music path to age 8, when Michael Jackson’s Thriller tape first came into his hands. After 15 years performing as an impersonator of the King of Pop, he developed his own technique, Dancing in the Dark, to internalize each movement until it became second nature. A key part of the act is his ability to sing while executing choreography drawn from Michael Jackson’s style. The emphasis is not on parody, but on faithfully conveying the vocals and movement language that define the material. In 2009, Michael Mori met La Toya Jackson, who was impressed by his ability to move and sing with ease while conveying her brother’s vocals and choreography. In 2016, he was invited to Philadelphia for the show MJ: THE INVINCIBLE TOUR, where he worked with Lavelle Smith, Michael Jackson’s personal choreographer and close friend.
