Barrie started out singing folk music in coffeehouses at 15, performing in California, Maryland, Florida, and New York. He later became known in Southern California with the rock-a-billy group Black Slacks. Alongside performing, he has worked extensively in entertainment booking, production, and showroom and theater operations.

His career includes performances for the opening of the new American Embassy at the historic Brandenburg Gate in Berlin in 2008, for The National Governor’s Convention in Biloxi, Mississippi, and for many large corporate events. Since 1990, he has performed about 300 dates per year, 2 shows per day, and entertained more than 3 million show-goers. He has also been a guest on TV talk shows and has received news coverage in cities where he performs.

Barrie is also a recording artist with several releases and performs both original material and songs by other artists. He has received awards including Entertainer of the Year in San Diego, California, and he was a principal act in a show voted Show of the Year in Reno, Nevada, for 3 years.

He is best known for his tributes to Neil Diamond and Jimmy Buffett. Since 1991, he has been the main Diamond and only Buffett tribute artist for Legends in Concert, American Superstars, Superstars Live in Concert, and Stars in Concert in Europe. His tribute work has appeared in main showrooms and theaters around the world, including Japan, Russia, Hawaii, Canada, Australia, and Europe.

Barrie produces and stars in Adventures in Parrotdise and Hot August Nights, his Neil Diamond tribute production. His Diamond and Buffett tributes were the first tribute shows to play an indefinite engagement in a main showroom in a major Las Vegas casino.
