About Us
Sinatra Big Band is a Los Angeles Frank Sinatra tribute led by Matt Mauser with arranger and conductor Pete Jacobs. The show centers on the Sinatra-with-big-band sound, drawing from the era of the Count Basie Orchestra at the Sands.
Sinatra Big Band is a Frank Sinatra tribute led by Matt Mauser and developed with arranger and producer Pete Jacobs in Los Angeles, California.
Matt Mauser has been performing since the late 90s as lead singer of the Southern California rock band The Tijuana Dogs. As that band grew in popularity, they were increasingly booked for weddings, corporate parties, and other events that called for a more sophisticated style of music. During that period, Matt developed a deep focus on Frank Sinatra’s catalog, studying the phrasing and vocal details in each song.
Pete Jacobs was born in Claremont, California. He studied music at Azusa Pacific University and went on to a successful career as a producer and music arranger. In 1997, he formed the 16-piece big band Wartime Radio Revue. That band has performed across the United States and Europe, including appearances at Lincoln Center in New York, Disneyland, and the Hollywood Bowl.
Matt and Pete were introduced in 2005 by Tijuana Dogs guitarist Dave Murdy, who was playing with both The Tijuana Dogs and Pete’s Wartime Radio Revue. In 2011, Matt approached Pete about building a Frank Sinatra tribute band, and they began charting music, recording vocals, and rehearsing with the big band.
Their collaboration is centered on Sinatra at the height of his career, with a sound shaped by the era of his performances with the Count Basie Orchestra at the Sands hotel in Las Vegas. For buyers, the format is clear: a Sinatra tribute built around Matt Mauser’s vocals and Pete Jacobs’ work as conductor and arranger, with big-band backing drawn from a project already established in Pete’s career.
