Band story and booking context
Shotgun Willie Live is a Willie Nelson tribute led by Terry Johnson of Northwest Arkansas. After years singing Willie’s songs, he went on to perform as Willie at Legends in Concert in Branson following a 2022 audition.
Terry Johnson is a lifelong Willie Nelson fan who has spent decades singing Willie’s songs and practicing his signature soulful baritone. His repertoire includes Always on My Mind and other songs he first learned in 1973 after Willie Nelson played for him on an old National guitar. After years of performing for friends, family, and in karaoke bars, Terry began performing as Willie at Legends in Concert in Branson. Shotgun Willie Live brings that familiar sound and long-held connection to Willie’s music to a live audience.
