During soundcheck at the Rialto Theater for the 4^th. Annual Holiday Hangover, the bands that night (Blondie, Arena, George Michael Reborn, and The Cured) were informed they would have some special guests in the audience. Former U.S. Representative Gabby Giffords and Husband, Naval Aviator, and Astronaut Mark Kelly.

Sure enough, just before the first band started, they arrived and were escorted to their seats. They stayed all night and talked to each one of the bands.

“I have meet plenty of rock royalty in by time but meeting Gabby and Mark was something completely different. They were so nice and down to earth. And let’s be honest, how cool is it to meet a guy who holds the record for most time in space!” Said Tommy Gruber of Arena – Duran Duran Tribute.

Gabby also mentioned that Duran Duran was one of her favorite bands. Gabby and Mark mentioned they saw Duran Duran perform at the Kennedy Space center awhile back for the anniversary of the Apollo missions.
