Bio
The Selena Experience is a Selena tribute led by Genessa Escobar, a Colombian-American singer whose connection to Selena Quintanilla began in the early 90s. Alongside influences such as Gwen Stefani and Mariah Carey, Selena’s music, style, and stage presence became a lasting part of Genessa’s own musical foundation.
Genessa brings a background that includes touring nationally with the all-girl pop group 3rd Faze, appearing on American Idol and It’s Showtime at the Apollo, fronting New York cover bands, and contributing background vocals to Cheryl Cole’s album 3 Words. That experience carries into a tribute show built around both the visual and musical elements associated with Selena.
The band was assembled under the direction of bassist and bandleader Lenny Rocillo, who had previously played with Genessa in other projects. He approached her to front the act, and the musicians were then hand-picked for the group.
The show draws from the popularity of Selena’s last Live album and expands on that concert format with a focused live presentation created in her memory. For buyers looking for a clear Selena tribute with an experienced frontwoman and a dedicated band behind the concept, The Selena Experience is positioned as a full concert-style act centered on keeping Selena’s music and memory in front of live audiences.
