Ridin' The Storm Out is an REO Speedwagon tribute formed in 2017 by guitarist and founding member Rick Hunter in Ventura, California. In the late 90s, Hunter played and performed with REO founding member and guitarist Gary Richrath for almost three years. That experience led him to build a tribute centered on REO's music and on Richrath's contribution to the band's history. After working in tribute bands since 2002, Hunter set out to assemble players who understood the parts that define REO's sound. The focus was on the band's hit-song catalog, signature vocal harmonies, and musical style. The lineup came together with two young multi-talented musicians and two seasoned players, forming Ridin' The Storm Out, a tribute to REO Speedwagon. The name comes from the band's first hit in the mid 70s, the signature song that ends REO's shows.
