San Diego’s Rising Star Dance & Show Entertainers is a 7-member cover band playing party and club hits from the 70s, 80s, 90s, and today. The show features live horns, 4-part harmonies, choreographed performance, and 3 professional dancers on stage.
Rising Star Dance & Show Entertainers is a 7-member cover band from San Diego performing popular party and club hits from the 70s, 80s, 90s, and today. Their show combines live horns, 4-part harmonies, and a non-stop choreographic format built for dance-floor energy.
The band also works with 3 professional choreographer/dancers who perform on stage with the group to help drive the show.
Original member Efren E. Sicat handles vocals, keyboards, and trumpet. He began with the group when it performed under the name Cycles in 1980, before the band changed to Rising Star in 1987.
Edwin Sicat is the musical director and performs on keyboards, guitar, trumpet, trombone, flute, and vocals. He is also one of the group’s original members.
Jose Del Rosario covers vocals and trombone and has been with Rising Star Entertainers for 28 years. He has performed professionally four to six shows a week, approximately 42 to 48 weeks a year, since 1976, and has also played keyboards and programmed arrangements for shows.
Leroy Payton, from Oceanside, California, performs saxophone and lead vocals. He played the San Diego scene since the 80s with the group Forward Motion and joined Rising Star in the early 90s.
Rodney Jones is the drummer. A self-taught player, he started at age 4, grew up in a family of musicians, and began playing in church and with local groups at 16.
Alicia Hennis performs vocals. She has sung since childhood, is also a classical pianist, taught herself piano at age 5, and grew up surrounded by music and the arts.
